Teaching

Focused on Inquiry-Based Teaching

Labs are geared towards student projects and independent work

Much of the teaching I do is focused on creating inquiry-based learning for students. Wherever possible, the labs I teach emphasize the use of multiple variables to manipulate aspects of systems, and observing the results of those manipulations.
Upper division lecture courses revolve around introducing contemporary ideas and hypotheses using the literature and analysis of recent papers. When given guidelines on how to read scientific papers, students are adept at assessing the merits and data.
Introductory courses are geared towards establishing a foundation of ecology, evolution, and behavior theory.
